Style Report: Jason Wu Collection at Target today!

This morning I was awake at 7 AM, but my mind wasn't; I kept on tossing &
turning...thinking about what needed to be done. At 9 AM when Mehreen woke up, I still had an itchy feeling about something I kept on forgetting. Around 9:30 AM, I remembered! Jason Wu's Collection at Target! I hurried and got Mehreen and myself ready in five minutes. Drove to the nearest Target which is only 6 minutes away from where I live. It wasn't the greed of buying his latest piece that drew me into the store, but it was more of my curiosity and to see his stylish creations done in an affordable manner.
The tote bag I am carrying in the picture below is priced for $39.99. I didn't get it, but I did like the overall style. (I happen to have many unused bags in my closet).

The navy blue sleeveless dress with flower print had a nice chiffon like feel, but I wasn't too crazy about the flower print. I can be very critical of the print itself.

I was more interested in these 2 chiffon long sleeve blouses, but my Target did not carry them.

Unlike other shoppers before me, I did not carry bags full of Jason Wu's clothing when walking out of the store - however, I did get a grasp of his designing skills and I liked what I saw. The left-over pieces at Target with the shift dresses and that particular flower print, got me a feeling of the 'Hamptons' - as if I was visiting rich white folks at their bungalow alongside the shore. Oh, the idea alone!
Jason Wu, you've got skills. I just wish you had the chiffon blouses available for me.

Oh well. I forgive you. :)

Jason Wu, The Designer: Collection Available at Target!

Jason Wu is collaborating with Target, coming up with sleek designs in affordable prices, available in stores and online starting February 5. The same Jason Wu who designed the Inaugural Gown for our First Lady.

In late 2008, Wu was asked to design an inauguration dress, which he delivered himself to Chicago from New York. He didn't know his gown had been chosen until he saw it with the rest of us — on TV. Though it was this dress that arguably launched Wu’s career, the 29 year-old designer met Mrs. Obama for the first time when the two donated the dress to the Smithsonian Museum in 2010.

Spring Fashion 2012

Dear Readers,

Wouldn't it be great to start off our first post of 2012 with the newest, latest and hottest trends of Spring 2012? I would think so! I know this post has been long in the waiting (and mainly it is my own fault and partly...well, I'd blame it on my hectic days with my toddler. Oh my God! She's so cute, but a handful!). As we are gearing up and making room in our closets for new ensembles, wishfully hoping that the weather is mild & pleasant enough to flaunt our Fashionista selves - our most beloved 'Spring' seems to be blossoming in our hearts.

"La La La Laaa Laaa Laaa!" -- Yes, just like that!

Now let's take a look at the runway: from the hottest 'tangerine' colors to much 'flower power' and bold prints; this Spring season is all about popping out your Spring-y spirit!

TANGERINE TANGO!

From L to R: Sophie Theallet, Steven Alan, Doo-Ri, Spring 2012

New York Fashion Week kicked off with the most hottest and the most popular color of the season 'Tangerine Tango' popping up like a slice of freshly cut citrus. I'm sure front row admirers must have gotten thirsty for a tall glass of orange juice - ha!
I am loving the different textures and shades of tangerine. I have never been much of an orange color fan, but the styles of these dresses are attractive and not overdone. How cute is the silky belt on the first model...! (on the left)...fuchsia and orange always go good together.
Yummy!

FUTURISTIC PRINTS

From L to R: Vera Wang, Prabal Gurung, Cynthia Rowley, Spring 2012

Interesting. A mix of floral and futuristic design; almost as if I am taking a fast-forward journey into 2050. I like the boldness of these looks. The pants on the 3rd model (right) and the v-neck white shirt looks very comfy, yet different.
Vera Wang's dress on the left, is a swirl of fresh colors. Lovely design.

PASTEL SHADES

From L to R: Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez, Spring 2012

METALLIC BASICS

From L to R: Diesel, Theysken’s Theory, spring 2012

CHEERFUL COLOR-BLOCKING

From L to R: Sophie Theallet, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Spring 2012

ANORAKS

From L to R: Jason Wu, Edun, Tommy Hilfiger, Spring 2012

I've always loved anoraks. I wanted to get one in the winter style last year, but living in Houston, one doesn't really need coats that thick. This Spring-y version of the Anorak however, will definitely go year-round. I love how the anorak has become a piece of clothing rather than just a jacket. Very stylish indeed.

BOLD PRINTS

From L to R: Cynthia Rowley, Derek Lam, Altuzarra, Spring 2012

"Do-You-Dare-PRINTS" -- these oversized florals, mirror-like geometric shapes and even parrot prints! Do you dare?!

PEPLUM SKIRTS/SHIRTS/DRESSES

From L to R: Rodarte, Thakoon, Cushnie et Ochs, Spring 2012

Proper and flirty all at the same time. With these looks you can go about your business and look feminine with the added, playful ruffle at the waist. Feel like a bird standing tall with high heels and eyes darkly lined to prey and attract. Spread those shiny wings!

Ready for Spring?

Citrus? Check.
Floral? Check.
Ruffles? Check.
Prints? Check.
Birds? Uhmm....Check.

It's a Zoo out there!

Tribal Prints: Are you in?

As I am trying to recover from a bad sore throat and a sudden emerging asthma problem, making it impossible for me to breathe at night, resulting in many awakenings of my puffy eyed sorry self, I am also facing an inner dilemma of an identity crisis. At times like this, when I am trying to 'hybernate' at home whilst taking care of myself, in the midst of it all, I feel very very much unproductive. And that feeling alone, eats my soul, bullies my mind and creeps into my existence. I want to be better. I want to do so much. And then it occurs to me; this Blog. Oh yes! My getaway to Fashion, my recovery from the mundane household chores I perform each and every day. Yes, blessed I surely am. I love my surroundings and I surely love the people I take care of. But this routine sometimes gets the best of me and I often wonder why I stopped ignoring you Dear Blog?...Why is it that my heart aches and misses you, craves for you - for the written word. Perhaps, it's my intellect calling you out on the basis of Fashion or perhaps my existence needs an affirmative answer to my rambling thoughts for that I feel the need to gather my words on virtual screen. Perhaps...

Well, enough of this melodrama! Aaaahhhh! TRIBAL PRINTS. Yes, let's focus on the subject given. Now, I've always found tribal prints somewhat overbearing and too South American looking, but with just the right touch, you may surprise yourself. I took a glance at the latest Express Fashion Catalog sitting uselessly on my kitchen counter and liked what I saw!

Now, see for yourself:

Today's Trend: Animal Print

I have never been a huge fan of much animal print, but animal print done in a tasteful design and pattern, can definitely catch my eye and eventually be worn on my body. I am speaking of the latest craze for Python prints. Make your inner pythons come out, ladies and put your inner lionesses to rest!

The Python Print dress worn by Courtney Cox looks amazing on her and suits her perfectly with her blackish, long hair. It's almost as if she's born with this dress - there seems to be no effort, no extra frills - just the simple dress with the animal print which is extremely alluring in itself. The silky belt accentuates not only her fabulous waist line, but also distracts one from looking only at print and print alone.  Here you see, I feel the need to compliment the animal represented; thank you python!

Lanvin Python Print Dress:
Brown and cream python-print silk dress with a gray grosgrain self-belt at the waist. Lanvin dress has a collar, a round neck draped, ruffled short sleeves, side pockets, longer hem at the back and simply slips on. 100% silk.

For the premiere of Bad Teacher, Cameron Diaz was spotted wearing a black and gold sequined tiger animal print by Emilio Pucci. This 38 year old actress looks confident, sexy and yet very feminine wearing this fancy take on animal print. I love it!

On the runway - Leopard Print:

Lady Gaga looking, well, quite her eccentric-self, wearing Leopard print. Not my style.

Hilary Duff on-the-go wearing Leopard print leggings with a white tee and creamish cardigan. I like the way she wears it. It's not overdone.

Of course, Jennifer Lopez, looking like a Goddess in her printed dress! She always pulls it together! Gorgeous!

Paris Hilton Women's Destiny:

By Guess:

BCBGirls Giraffe Print Peep-Toe Pumps

I love this pump! It's classy, chic and just beautiful!

Kaftan in Cheetah Animal Print:

Zebra print kaftan:

Vintage Leopard Print Sweater:

Sparkle and Fade Leopard Pullover Sweater:

And so, here's the REAL deal -

Leopard

Python

Cheetah

Zebra

What animal skin are you?
